When your lights go out, your power trips, or a burning smell comes from your DB board, you need a certified emergency electrician — fast.

At Premium Electricians Zimbabwe, we respond 24/7 with skilled fault-finding specialists ready to restore power safely across Zimbabwe, including Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, and other major towns.

When the power trips at night, a breaker won’t reset, or there’s a burning smell from the DB board, you want help that’s fast and practical.

We’re a Zimbabwean team that deals with load-shedding realities, ZESA/ZETDC power-return surges, and older wiring — so we don’t waste time.

We handle emergencies in homes, shops, offices, warehouses, and farms throughout Zimbabwe.

Whether it’s no power, constant tripping on earth leakage (RCD/RCBO), a stubborn MCB, or strange flickering and buzzing, we’ll find the fault, make it safe, and get you back up.

If the issue points to deeper DB board problems, poor earthing, surge damage, or overloaded circuits, we’ll stabilise things properly and give you a plan to prevent repeat breakdowns — surge protection (SPDs), better earthing & bonding, load balancing, and, where appropriate, backup solutions such as an inverter/UPS or a generator with a clean changeover/ATS that never back-feeds ZETDC.

Common problems we fix (day or night)

No power or partial outage, DB board (distribution board) tripping, earth leakage/RCD or RCBO won’t stay on, MCBs that trip on kettles / geysers / stoves / pumps, breakers that feel warm or hum, flickering/dim lights, three-phase/phase-loss issues, shocks from appliances or gate/garage motors, and surge damage after power is restored.

We also deal with nuisance trips during load-shedding return, loose neutrals, and faults caused by water ingress after storms.

Safety tip: If you see smoke, sparks, or smell burning insulation, switch off at the main isolator, keep people away, and contact us immediately.

Why these faults happen

Overload. Too many high-load appliances (stove, geyser, pumps, heaters) on one circuit or phase can push a breaker beyond its rating. The result is a warm breaker cover, a trip under heavy use, or lights dimming when big loads start. We’ll separate and balance loads so breakers run cool and stable.

Short circuit. Damaged cable, crushed insulation, a failed fitting, or a screw touching a conductor can cause an instant trip. You might hear a pop, smell burning, or see a flash at a socket or switch. We test, locate the fault precisely and replace the failed part or wiring section.

Earth fault or loose neutral. Moisture in fittings, poor terminations, corrosion or aging insulation can leak current to earth. RCDs/RCBOs will trip repeatedly. A loose neutral can also cause odd symptoms across multiple circuits. We do insulation resistance and continuity testing to confirm, then re-terminate or replace as needed.

Tired protection devices. Old or undersized MCBs, RCBOs and RCDs can trip too easily—or not at all. We test trip times and replace with the right device type and rating so your protection is both safe and nuisance-free.

Surge events. After load-shedding, power returns with a surge. Sensitive electronics (TVs, routers, fridges, gate/NVR gear) can fail. We install SPDs (Type 1/2/3) and improve earthing so future surges are diverted safely instead of burning equipment.

Water ingress. Rain or leaks can find their way into outdoor lights, junction boxes and conduits. We dry, repair and seal the affected points and advise on weather-proofing so it doesn’t return.

DB boards, protection & safety (stability starts here)

Your DB board is the heart of the installation. If it’s messy, under-rated, or missing protection, you’ll keep getting trips or, worse, unsafe conditions.

We service and upgrade boards: RCD/earth leakage devices, RCBOs, MCBs, neutral/earth bars, busbars, isolators and clean changeovers/ATS for generators.

We set correct breaker curves and ratings, tidy wiring, label circuits, and fit surge protection to shield sensitive equipment from power-return spikes.

The aim is simple: fewer trips, no shocks, and gear that lasts longer.

Backup power & prevention (so the problem doesn’t return)

If repeated outages or surges are hurting your business or home, we’ll size an inverter/UPS for essentials (lights, Wi-Fi, TV, computers, fridges—usually not geysers/stoves) or integrate your generator with a proper changeover or ATS so there’s no unsafe back-feed to ZETDC.

We also check earthing & bonding, add SPDs, and balance phases on three-phase sites.

These steps cut nuisance tripping, protect appliances and make your power more predictable during load-shedding.

Prepaid meters, isolators & ZETDC readiness

If your prepaid meter or meter box area needs attention, we’ll sort the isolator readiness and downstream wiring on your side, then guide you on next steps with ZETDC when the meter itself is at fault.

Clear, safe isolation and compliant DB work also help future inspections go smoothly.

Appliances & high-load circuits we often stabilise

Stove/oven/hob circuits, geysers, borehole and water pumps, pool pumps, air-con wiring, gate and garage motors, cold rooms, welders and general workshop equipment.

We make sure the wiring, breakers and protection match the real-world load so daily use doesn’t cause constant tripping.

FAQs

How quickly can you get here?
In major cities we usually offer same-day help, and after-hours emergencies are prioritised. When you contact us, we’ll confirm availability and give you a realistic ETA based on traffic and current jobs.

My earth leakage keeps tripping. What can I try before you arrive?
Turn all breakers off, reset the RCD, then bring circuits back one by one. If the RCD trips on a particular circuit, leave that circuit off and tell us which one—it speeds up diagnosis.

Is it OK to keep resetting a breaker?
If a breaker or RCD trips more than once, stop resetting. Protection devices are warning you. Repeated resets can overheat wiring or damage appliances. We’ll find the cause and fix it properly.

Why do problems appear right after load-shedding?
When power returns, the surge and the sudden start-up of many appliances at once exposes weak spots—loose neutrals, tired breakers, poor earthing. SPDs and a tidy, correctly rated DB board make a big difference.

Do you work on three-phase systems?
Yes. We handle three-phase fault finding, phase-loss issues, motor protection, and load balancing for shops, workshops and small factories.
