What this service covers
Full electrical inspection and report (residential & commercial)
Testing: insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, RCD/earth leakage trip times
DB board assessment: MCB/RCBO/RCD ratings, neatness, labels, isolators, changeover/ATS where applicable
Earthing & bonding: earth electrode performance, bonding to metal pipework and equipment
Surge protection (SPDs): fitment and condition (Type 1/2/3)
Backup power integration: generator and inverter/solar checks (no back-feed to ZETDC, safe isolation)
Prepaid meter readiness: isolators and tidy consumer side for smoother utility interactions
Remedial work and re-test, then CoC where required
When to book an inspection
Property sale or handover (buyer/seller wants proof of a safe installation)
Renovations, extensions or rewiring just completed
Adding inverter/UPS, generator or solar
Frequent tripping, flicker, shocks or repeated appliance failures after load-shedding
Insurance needs a report after surge or storm damage
Annual/periodic safety check for businesses, clinics and workshops
Safety tip: if there’s a burning smell, visible arcing or warm breakers, switch off at the main isolator and WhatsApp us.
Why compliance matters in Zimbabwe
Load-shedding and power-return surges are hard on wiring and electronics. Good protection (RCD/RCBO/MCB), sound earthing & bonding and correctly installed SPDs reduce shocks, nuisance trips and equipment failures.
A clean changeover/ATS for generators and correct integration of hybrid inverters keep you safe and prevent illegal/unsafe back-feeding into ZETDC lines.
The tests we perform (no guesswork)
Insulation resistance – checks cable health and moisture damage
Continuity & polarity – confirms conductors and terminations are correct end-to-end
Earth fault loop impedance – ensures protective devices trip fast enough under fault
RCD/RCBO trip tests – proves people-protection works and trips within time
Earth electrode resistance – verifies the performance of your earth spike/rod
Visual & thermal scan (where useful) – spots hot joints, loose lugs, overcrowded enclosures
Functional tests – isolators, changeover/ATS, generator start/stop, inverter transfer behaviour
We explain results in simple language and show photos of any issues we find.
DB board, protection & surge review
Most “mystery” problems start at the DB. We check device ratings, breaker curves, shared neutrals, tidy busbars and labels, confirm RCD/RCBO coverage where required, and assess SPD placement.
If needed, we recommend a board tidy or upgrade so it trips only when it should and protects sensitive gear when ZETDC restores power.
Earthing & bonding (shock prevention)
We test the earth electrode, confirm bonding of pipework, geysers, metal enclosures and machinery, and correct loose or undersized earth conductors. Solid earthing + bonding allow RCDs to work reliably and give SPDs a proper path to ground.
Backup power: generator, inverter & solar checks
We verify that changeover/ATS wiring prevents back-feed, that neutral-earth strategies don’t fight your RCDs, and that transfers between grid, inverter and generator are smooth.
For solar, we check DC isolators, basic string layout and AC integration so protection behaves as expected.
Remedial work & re-test (fix, then certify)
If we find defects, we give you a clear, prioritised list. Most fixes are straightforward: re-terminations, device swaps to correct ratings, separating neutrals, adding SPDs, improving earthing or fitting missing isolators.
We re-test after repairs; where scope requires it, we can arrange a CoC.
Documentation you receive
Plain-English inspection report with photos
Test results (key measurements) and any remedial notes
Before/after evidence if we perform repairs
CoC where applicable
Businesses, clinics & small industry
We plan inspections to minimise downtime, label panels so staff know what can run on backup, and schedule remedials off-peak where possible. For workshops and small factories, we balance phases, check motor protection and verify bonding of panels and steelwork.
Prepaid meter & ZETDC readiness
We keep your side neat and labelled and ensure safe isolation. If the prepaid meter itself misbehaves, our test results help speed up next steps with ZETDC.
What to expect on the day
We start with a walkthrough, isolate safely where needed and perform tests room-by-room and at the DB.
Power may be off for short periods while we measure and open enclosures. At the end we run through findings, give simple recommendations and timeline options if work is required.
Areas we cover in Zimbabwe

FAQs
Do I need a Certificate of Compliance to sell a property?
If required by your deal or local practice, yes—we’ll inspect, fix issues and arrange a CoC once the installation meets the standard.
Why does my earth leakage trip “randomly”?
It’s usually moisture, a leaky appliance, shared neutrals or a tired RCD. Testing tells us which; fixes are often simple once we see the numbers.
Can you check my generator/inverter is safe?
Yes. We verify changeover/ATS, neutral-earth strategy, transfer behaviour and that nothing can back-feed ZETDC.
Do I really need surge protection?
In Zimbabwe, it’s highly recommended. SPDs plus good earthing protect TVs, routers, fridges, gate motors and NVRs from power-return spikes.
How long does an inspection take?
Most homes are a few hours; larger sites take longer. We’ll give you a realistic estimate based on size and complexity.
Will you fix issues on the same visit?
If parts and time allow, yes. Otherwise we quote the remedials, schedule quickly, then re-test and close out.
Can you issue a certificate?
Where scope requires it, we test to standards and can arrange a Compliance Certificate (CoC).
